LEXA translates web pages and images in the browser. You can use a machine translator (Google, Microsoft, or Yandex) with no account, or an LLM API key that you provide (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, or another endpoint). LEXA is not the Syntagma workspace app. Installing LEXA does not create a Syntagma account.
Settings, glossary, translation cache, and your API key are saved in chrome.storage.local on this Chrome profile. Syntagma does not receive this storage. You can clear it from LEXA Settings or by removing the extension.
When you turn translation on, LEXA sends page text to the translator you selected: Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, Yandex Translate, or an LLM HTTP API you configured (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or another endpoint you paste). Image tiles are sent only to a vision-capable LLM, not to the machine translators. That provider’s privacy policy then applies. If you use a local server (Ollama, LM Studio), the request stays on your machine.
We do not operate a LEXA cloud that logs which pages you read.
We do not sell user data. We do not use translation content for advertising. We do not execute JavaScript downloaded from the network. We do not require a Syntagma login for the extension.
